Venture X College Park: A Startup Funding Story That Built Community
Background: A Founder Who Saw What Was Missing
For years, Moniesha Shorter worked closely with small business owners as a marketing consultant and business coach. Through client work, accelerator programs, and community partnerships in Maryland, she saw a recurring pattern: founders had ambition and ideas, but very few places that truly supported how they worked.
There was no central space where entrepreneurs could gather, collaborate, and grow—not just professionally, but collectively. That need eventually became Venture X College Park, a premium flexible workspace designed to serve founders, small teams, and remote professionals in the College Park Discovery District.

“I didn’t set out to open a coworking space, I was responding to a need I kept seeing over and over again.”

Business Challenge: Building More Than Just a Space
Transforming the original coworking concept into a physical location required more than vision. It required capital—and a willingness to invest early in an idea that hadn’t yet taken shape. Launching a coworking space meant navigating:
- Franchise acquisition and onboarding
- Lease negotiations
- Architectural planning and permitting
- Construction and build-out
- Technology and infrastructure investments
Without access to financing, Venture X College Park would have remained a concept rather than a functional coworking space.
“For many founders, the hardest part isn’t the idea—it’s getting the resources to act on it. That’s especially true for first-time owners and underfunded entrepreneurs.”

Solution: Support That Made the Vision Possible
Through the lender network,1 Moniesha was able to secure the financing needed to move forward with the acquisition and development of Venture X College Park. Financing gave her the runway to explore the best design for the space, refine her franchise strategy, and begin building out the ecosystem of services she envisioned.
With funding in place, she was able to move through permitting, construction, and mobilization efficiently once approvals were finalized.
“It’s rare to find someone willing to say yes to the idea and the potential. iBusiness Funding saw the purpose behind my plan and gave me the confidence to keep moving forward.”

Results: Bringing the Vision to Life
With its doors officially open, Venture X College Park is fulfilling its purpose. Designed to support the way people work today, the space offers premium flexible office areas, dedicated desks, event areas, virtual mail services, and a built‑in sense of community. It serves solopreneurs, small businesses, remote teams, and corporate clients looking for professional infrastructure paired with connection.
What began as an idea rooted in helping early-stage founders has grown into a thoughtfully designed coworking environment built for collaboration, connection, and growth.
“iBusiness Funding supported an idea that grew into a space where other entrepreneurs can build their futures.”
